St. Charles Parish homeowners urged to renew homestead exemptions through mailed cards

The simple act of mailing back a postcard could equal up to $850.00 of savings on your property tax bill for 2016.

The St. Charles Parish Assessor’s Office mailed homestead exemption renewal cards the week of Feb. 1. Under Louisiana law, homeowners are entitled to one homestead exemption on their primary residence of up to $75,000 in fair market value.

All residents need to do to take advantage of the homestead exemption is complete, sign and return the bottom portion of the renewal card as soon as possible.
